Audience favorite Kirill Gerstein returns to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. “A peerless performer with so much to express” (The Guardian), Gerstein plays Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, a piquant piece with jazzy underpinnings. The popular guest conductor Stéphane Denève keeps with the French theme throughout with Ibert’s lighthearted Escales, “Ports of Call,” a trio of musical postcards from a trip abroad. The ASO re-enacts The Creation of the World with an extra shot of French whimsy, courtesy of Darius Milhaud, and ends on a high with Gershwin’s irresistible love letter to the French capital, An American in Paris.
