Join us on Friday, September 6th at 9AM for an award ceremony & petit-déjeuner (French breakfast) to celebrate our Teacher of the Year, Marie-Claude Zajde, and recognize her hard work and dedication to teaching French.
History of the Nora Saporta Teaching Awards:
Established in 2014, the Nora Saporta Teaching Award (NSTA) honors the memory of Nora Saporta, co-founder of the school of the Alliance Française d’Atlanta by making an annual cash award to an outstanding teacher in the school.
The Alliance Française was founded in 1912 in Atlanta. A few years after World War II, Nora moved to the United States. The French language and culture was her heart and soul and teaching was her heartbeat. In 1963, she co-founded the school of the Alliance. For over 30 years she led, nurtured and taught students at the Alliance.
What are the criteria?
Excellence in teaching is the primary criterium that we will consider. Additionally, we look at how the nominee has demonstrated an interest in being an ambassador of the Alliance Française and has worked for the promotion of the organization’s programs.
Eligible teachers will have taught a minimum of two years or eight sessions in the school. Winners from the prior three years are not eligible.
