FRANÇOISE B. HARPER – Fine Artist
I was born in Belfort, northeast of France. From a very young age, I taught myself the arts of sketching and coloring, using different media and opening my mind to new styles. I took a 2-year class at the College of Fine Arts in Belfort.
In 2012 when I moved to the USA, I became a full-time pastel artist. I took several classes with artists such as Karen Margulis, Margaret Dyer, Liz Haywood-Sullivan and Richard McKinley.
Today, I mostly paint from photographs. My aim is to take the opportunity of showing some characteristics of normal life, of our routines, or focusing on the more intriguing aspects of life. My masters are Rembrandt, Delacroix, the Impressionists such as Renoir, Monnet, Degas…
My work has been shown in many galleries in Atlanta and around, including the Atlanta Artist Center in Buckhead, the Southeastern Pastel Society, the Oglethorpe Museum of Art, Johns Creek Art Center, Gallery 4463 in Acworth and the Main Street Gallery in Acworth. I’m a member of the South Eastern Pastel Society and my work has received several awards.
