Meet the teacher

Valerie Gaudemer-Maker was born in Paris, grew up and lived in a couple of neighboring towns until she moved to the United States at the end of 1998 for a change of horizon thanks to a job transfer. Having grown up in a family of English teachers, she chose to do her own thing after college and went into the industry, first in France and then in the US for 30 years. Two years ago, she turned her passion into a full-time job and be an artist (watercolor and custom-matting). Recently, Valérie decided to become a substitute teacher to get familiar with the American school system. She enjoys making a difference in the students’ lives and tries to convey her love for foreign languages to them. She believes that there is not a more fulfilling task than to make students (adults and children) like and enjoy practicing her native language, French!
